Keeping Abreast More Than Just Fashion Shows 2015

This year sees the fifth Keeping Abreast Fashion Shows. I have been lucky enough to have been involved with all of the shows over the past 6 years… Thankfully only once having to appear on stage! I am very safely behind the camera capturing the action. The atmosphere is always absolutely incredible – the first year the sound system cut-out as the decibels breached the legal limit within St Andrew’s Hall – and that was from the cheering and clapping by audience members as the models came out onto the catwalk!

Since that first show, back in 2009, the event has moved to The OPEN venue in Bank Plain, Norwich and is now over two evenings to be able to accommodate the demand for tickets. There are a few images below to give a flavour of what’s to come in a little look back over some of the past shows…

The two nights are really important fund-raisers for the charity and get amazing support from local independent businesses and dedicated volunteers. Once again, I will be doing my best to help the cause by selling portrait vouchers and donating ALL of the money to Keeping Abreast. Across the past shows, I have personally been able to raise more than £2000 in this way…but the vouchers are exclusively sold at the events, so please come along and show your support!

One Woman and Her Dog… and an iPhone

I am lucky enough to enjoy a daily walk with my dog Benjy just minutes from my house in beautiful open countryside alongside Marriott’s Way. The Norfolk skies and scenery of the changing seasons are simply beautiful. Over the past two years I have captured these moments on my iPhone. A selection of these images is now on display at The Mill Cafe Bar & Restaurant in Yaxham, Norfolk.

Capturing images on the iPhone has been great fun with simple editing in Snapseed to bring out some of the colours and shadows.

The images may become particularly relevant as a record of what the landscape looked like, as the proposed NDR will clip the corner of the field and it is uncertain as to whether we will be able to walk the field any more once the new road is built.

When photographing in the field I had not imagined that the images would be displayed other than on social media. But now that they are the subject of this small exhibition I hope that they will inspire others to build visual diaries or capture impromptu moments with their phone cameras…
